Over the years, the farm changed hands several times, but it was the Langenfelder family who held it longest, nurturing the land and establishing deep roots in the local community.

In fact, our neighbors felt so passionately about preserving the beauty and history of Rockwood that in 2005 they rallied together, successfully ensuring our farmhouse was officially recognized as a Maryland Historic Property. This heartfelt effort not only protects our home but also the picturesque views of it that grace the town of Kingsville.

Today, Rockwood on the Hill continues its legacy as a vibrant farmstead, bustling with life and laughter. We are deeply passionate about our animals and love sharing their stories and personalities with visitors and customers alike. We're committed to preserving heritage breeds, appreciating their unique history and traits, while also embracing the joy of creating robust, colorful hybrids. Our chickens produce an astonishing array of beautifully colored eggs and display dazzling feather patterns that delight and amaze.

We're also proud stewards of the critically endangered Dutch Hookbill ducks, working tirelessly to protect this rare breed and educate others about their significance. And let's not forget our playful Nigerian Dwarf goats, whose quirky antics keep smiles on our faces and warmth in our hearts.

Beyond our livestock, Rockwood on the Hill is home to beloved companions: our spirited dogs Tyr, Tucker, and Shiloh, and our curious farm cats Toulouse and Toby. Every day on the farm is filled with unexpected adventures, boundless energy, and endless affection.
